Fixed Gear Republic is here to connect international fixed gear
riders. The international connection is the most interesting and
rewarding element of social networking. We've put together a site
where people can easily contact people with a similar interest
(riding fixed gear bikes) from all around the world.
After graduating from
University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) in
Global & International Studies, I made my way to Denver, CO. I
connected with a local bike co-op and put together my bike and was
there to help when a hand was needed for other riders.
My fixed gear was my primary mode of transportation and I
quickly learned how much fun they were to ride. It felt good to
know that I wasn't burning up gas on the way to and from work and
the only thing burning was my legs.
I've lived in
Seville, Spain, and
Santiago, Chile, and I am passionate about connecting
people from different cultures around the world. I currently live
in Costa Rica, working for
Costa Rica Outward Bound, an international non-profit
that focuses on outdoor education.
The goal: to use this website as a resource for not only
information about fixed gears, but also for connections to the many
people and cultures around the world who ride fixed gear bikes. You
can find me here in Costa Rica at the Velodrome outside of San
Jose, or at any of the beaches surfing.
Enjoy the site, tell a friend.
Cheers,
Greg
